I’m pleased to present to you today my rework of Double’s Captain of Her Heart. I grew up listening to this song on Class 95FM back in Singapore. The piano hook is a killer. I collaborated with Fin Crowther on this one, at his studio in Wimbledon. You can read more about the making of this video.
So yes, this is the direction I’m going into for the foreseeable future. Going back to the voice I’ve always had, and relaxing into it. I’d planned to do cover songs, do more jazz-y/oldie stuff since last year and finally I’m doing it in earnest. And it feels like something I’m proud of, with no need to justify. At a wedding party I performed at last Saturday, someone requested that I sing Doris Day. I’m very pleased as at least one person ‘gets’ it 🙂 So I sang:
